Me time

10 12 2007

I am tired. I am finding parenting really challenging at the moment. It think it is coinciding with my 19-month-old starting to really assert her little personality. It is hard to know what to do in any given situation. Am I being too hard? Am I being too soft? Will that fact that I had to leave her screaming in her cot this morning so I could have shower going to emotionally scar her?

I always ...

It is hard to do all this!

29 11 2007

This work from home business set-up is hard work! I am adding products to the site and trying to squeeze it in between all the other stuff we mums have to do!

I am REALLY starting to get the sense of how difficult it is to be a mum and do all the other stuff that life demands as well. I am a Gen X and have grown up with the expectation that I would work ...

Officially in Business!

15 11 2007

I have just listed the first products for sale on my site. I am quite excited and scared!

By the time my daughter starts school, which is in 2012!, I want to be totally flexible with work and this is my attempt at doing this.

Hope any other WAHMS stop by and give some feedback.

Gearing up…

11 11 2007

Things have been pretty busy. I am gearing up to start selling some pretty fab products online at my site Licorice Mint

I am a little scared about this step, although I really want to make a go of it. I know there are quite a few mums on mumspace who work from home and have their own business, which I am sure is going to be a great help!

I am really interested in communicating ...

Don’t knock the suburbs

30 10 2007

There’s a new show starting on ABC called The Librarians. I am sure it is going to be very clever and all that but what sticks in my mind is an interview I read last year in The Age newspaper’s Green Guide with one of its creators and stars Robyn Butler.

What really irritated me was her comments on living in the suburbs:

‘…Of course, repressed individuals are everywhere - but suburbia does seem to specialise in ...

Lots 2 Say Baby dummies review

24 10 2007

Prior to giving birth to my daughter I was adament I would not use a pacifier (dummy, binky). No…not me. I was even horrified when my mother, who came over from Australia to London for the birth packed one in her suitcase ‘just in case’.

Well, I can say that I started using a dummy when she was four days old. Yes, I have found that a dummy has become a very useful tool! I ...

First steps

29 08 2007

It’s time for me to put my slightly-paranoid-mummy hat on. My daughter is nearly 16-months-old and not walking yet. No first steps, although he has been crusing around furniture and standing up in her cot for ages…. I wasn’t really worried except people go ‘isn’t she walking yet?’ and I have started to get worried.

Lost of the babies at childcare who are younger than her are walking. Hmmm… She’s very bright and bubbly and talkative ...

Megan Gale and kids

12 08 2007

I was disappointed at an interview of Megan Gale, Aussie ubermodel and face of David Jones, on Melbourne brekfast radio show 3AW this morning. The interview was fairly boring with the male hosts clearly tripping over their words as her beauty, no doubt stunned, them.

They asked her, ‘do you want children?’, presumably as it was reported in the media last week that she ‘wanted to settle down and have babies’. Megan gave the usual reply, ...

Jordan…bad example?

8 08 2007

Having left London late last year, I thought I had escaped the juggernaut (or juggernauts!) that is Jordan aka Katie Price! I detest Peter Andre and having witnessed their courtship via the Brit show I’m a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here and then the magazine covers everytime they fart, I am looking forward to news of their separation.

I don’t hate Jordan. I quite admire the girl’s business acumen. However, this has me raging. ...
